Collections
Description
This collection brings together material from the UK branch of the Gay Liberation Front (GLF), established in London in 1970. The GLF was a radical protest movement that challenged discrimination, demanded equality, and inspired a new era of LGBTQ+ activism.
The collection begins with:
GLF Diaries — produced by different groups, offering a record of meetings, organisation, events, and campaigns.
Come Together — the newspaper of the GLF, created collectively by its Media Workshop from 1970. It reported on demonstrations, cultural debates, and welcomed contributions from across the movement.
Oral Histories — interviews conducted by Philippa Fletcher and Noah Petts between 2023 and 2025 as part of their research about the meaning and community-building nature of the badges of the Hall-Carpenter Archives.
This is an evolving collection. Further series will be added as digitisation continues of the GLF papers, reflecting the breadth of the GLF's activism and legacy.
