Description
The Mill-Taylor Collection comprises correspondence, notebooks, photographs, press cuttings, and other papers relating to John Stuart Mill, Harriet Taylor Mill, Helen Taylor, James Mill, and their wider intellectual circles. It documents major nineteenth-century debates around utilitarianism, political economy, radical reform, women’s rights, education, Irish affairs, and social reform. Built through a series of acquisitions and donations from the 1920s onwards, the collection brings together material dispersed through the Mill and Taylor families and later collectors.

Researchers are responsible for assessing the copyright status of individual items and obtaining any necessary permissions before reuse. Please see individual item records for further information and refer to the UK Intellectual Property Office guidance on unpublished works and copyright duration.
