Collections
Description
This collection contains the journals of a number of suffrage organisations from the late 19th century including those of suffragists and suffragettes, as well as religious, international and political suffrage groups, and anti-suffragists. The collection also consists of journals which cover many campaigns for equality of rights and opportunities published after the First World War. Campaigns range from the right to vote on the same terms as men, to birth control, family allowances, guardianship rights, equal pay, and abolition of the marriage bar, to an equal role for women in the League of Nations. Journals, such as Urania, challenged gender and sexual norms.
